Sesamoid bones are specialized bones that are embedded within tendons, such as the patella, or kneecap.

In addition to their structural role, bones also play a significant role in storing essential minerals, such as calcium and phosphorus. These minerals are continuously deposited and withdrawn from bones as part of a dynamic process known as remodeling. This process ensures that bones maintain their strength while adapting to the changing needs of our bodies.

Maintaining healthy bones is crucial for overall well-being and prevents the onset of various bone-related conditions, such as osteoporosis. Regular exercise, a balanced diet rich in calcium and vitamin D, and avoiding habits like smoking and excessive alcohol consumption help promote optimal bone health.
